Lighting
Lighting:
- Lighting is a key aspect when filming. It can create an an impression without doing any editing.
- 'Golden Hour' is a good time to film as the sun is setting and natural light is at it's best.
- Lighting can set the mood and help the viewer feel a certain way towards the advert. (might make the advert more popular).
Types of lighting:
- Three-point fill lighting
- creates shadow and looks natural.
- Chiaroscuro lighting
- harsh lighting, creates shadows and atmosphere.
- horror films.
- High key lighting
- on the newer camera's, there is a setting for this.
- makes the scene look clean
- Low key lighting
- creates atmosphere and contrast.
- used in horrors, thrillers and romantic imagery.
- Back-lighting
- where the scene is lit directly from behind.
- normally uses natural light.
- Natural lighting
- natural light coming from the sun or a light source.
- used in combination with other lighting.
- Artificial lighting
- comes from man made light sources.
- used in combination with other lighting.
